Amelia Jean Foster

Amelia grew up in Slaterville Springs, New York, playing polo & raising Thoroughbred racehorses. After developing a passion for the stallion side of the breeding business, she moved to Kentucky in 2007 to attend the University of Kentucky & pursue a career with equine breeding & training. Amelia holds degrees in both Agricultural Economics and Equine Management, which have proven valuable in small business ownership. She was fortunate to meet fellow equestrian & now-husband Reynolds Foster while at UK; a couple for more than a decade, having a partner who is also invested in the equine business is a blessing!

In 2012 Amelia was offered the opportunity to buy back a horse she’d grown attached to as a child in Slaterville Springs; Ibboyee, a striking Thoroughbred stallion who performed impressively on the racetrack. Thus, Cannonbrook Farms [South] was born.

Over the last decade, Amelia has endeavored to keep Cannonbrook Farms a well respected & sought-out program for the breeding & development of horses across several disciplines. The breeding, starting, & training of young horses is a passion for Amelia, as is coaching students & their horses to new achievements. With horses & students competing in Classical Dressage, Show Jumping, Eventing, Western Dressage, Combined Tests & Breed Shows for young horses, the CBF team keeps a busy schedule!

Amelia is an active participant in several Kentucky-based equestrian organizations, having served as Vice President of the Kentucky Dressage Association (2020-2024) & Vice President of Dressage for the MidSouth Eventing & Dressage Association (2019-2024), where she was also the Chair of the Awards Committee (2019-2024).

As time permits, Amelia is working on her Dressage Judge’s License in an effort to become a better coach & trainer, as well as having a “retirement plan."
